Individual Therapy in Chicago: Finding the Right Support

I offer individual therapy in Chicago, in-person and by telehealth, for adults working through substance use, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship patterns, and the specific pressures of young adulthood. Whatever brought you here, whether it’s one clear issue or something harder to name, you don’t need to have it fully figured out before reaching out.

My approach is practical and client-paced. We use real, evidence-based tools, not just talking through your week and hoping something shifts, and you set the speed at which we move.

How Anxiety, Substance Use & Other Patterns Often Connect

Most people come in thinking they have one problem to solve. Often, what’s actually going on is a few things feeding each other. Anxiety that gets managed with a drink.

Depression that makes an old habit harder to shake. A relationship pattern that gets worse the more anxious you feel. A life transition that stirs all of it up at once, disrupting a routine that was quietly holding everything else together.

That’s why I don’t treat these as separate boxes to check on an intake form. If more than one of the areas below sounds familiar, that’s not unusual, and it doesn’t mean your situation is more complicated than most.

We can work on connected patterns together rather than picking just one thread to pull on and hoping the rest sorts itself out.

What I Can Help With Individual Therapy in Chicago

Substance Use & Coping

If drinking or using has quietly become how you manage stress or hard emotions, we'll work on what's underneath that habit, not just the habit itself

Anxiety

Racing thoughts, constant worry, a body that won't settle. We'll get specific about what's driving it and build tools you can actually use.

Depression

Getting through the day already takes everything you have. We'll work at your pace, without pressure to feel better faster than you're ready to.

Life Transitions

A new job, a breakup, a move, a loss, even a change you wanted can still throw you off balance.

Relationship Issues

Individual therapy focused on your own patterns in relationships, not couples counseling.

Young Adult

Career pressure, uncertainty, and the specific stage of life where coping habits often start.

Finding the Right Fit

Therapy only works if it actually fits, for you and for the person you’re working with. Reading through a specialty page might give you a sense of whether this feels right, but it’s also fine to not be totally sure yet. That’s what the free consultation is for.

If we talk and it doesn’t feel like the right match, that’s useful information, not a failure on either side. I’d rather you find the right fit somewhere, even if it’s not here, than force one that isn’t actually working.
